THE MEANING: SHE IS A CIRCLE
WHAT UP FAMILY,
As a songwriter and recording artist, I often find myself stuck in a corner with an anxious fan of music, patiently awaiting the answer to a seemingly simple question: What is (insert your favorite song title here) about? Since I am the songwriter, people are often taken back when I stumble, mumble, and squirm my way out of the question, but here is the thing; my songs usually have multiple meanings and I'd much rather you tell me what it means to you. But I get it, and therefore in an attempt to unfold the layers of my mind onion, I've created "The Meaning" blog series, to break down how I write my songs and what all these words truly mean... to me.
The first song of the series is; yes, you've guessed it, "She is a Circle". She is a Circle is my first official single of 2017 and one of the most beautiful I have ever written and produced in my opinion. Lets start with the lyrics.

BREAKDOWN
Now, I had two ideas swimming in my head when I wrote this song. First, I took a look at my own life and tried to visualize what love felt like for me. I imagined that love was a vast, endless ocean and I was smack dab in the middle of it, floating along peacefully. I imagined that every now and again a storm would rage, thunder would sound, and lightning would flash before my eyes but I never found myself afraid. I imagined that the waters were mostly calm and the the most beautiful shade of blue. The concept of the entire song came from this idea/metaphore.
Once I had the main Idea, I began to dive further into the idea of the ocean being love. I Thought if the ocean is love, than the earth is a woman. Words and and phrases that all seemed to make sense began to flood my mind: Mother earth, Mother nature, goddess. The shape of the earth brought images of the womb and ultimately the simple shape of the circle. This is of course how I came up with the title and the second theme of the song. This was no longer a song about my own personal love life but it was a song celebrating woman, and recognizing them as the link that ties everything together and that is what "She is a Circle" means to me.
